  i remember being incredibly overwhelmed the first time i saw this. the novelty and the scale of everything, the overbearing sadness and misery, the distinct need to 'get' the motifs, compositions, deliberations, everything. i almost felt like a deer in headlights.

  this time i look straight into the lights(or lack thereof given the mood of the film), and i find more hope than despair, i find myself more amused than confused. i also caught myself smiling every now and then.…
