I claim to love going to the cinema but really I just like sitting alone in a dark room.

I probably would have enjoyed a more instructive and detailed biopic but it’s unfair to judge a film on what you want it to be. This more ethereal take on these pivotal years in the Dylan legend is a gorgeous watch steeped in the time period featuring some great musical performances. Chalamet is terrific yet Norton steals the show. I came away with more questions than answers but I was whistling the songs the whole day after so what does that tell you.

Entirely disposable fluff really, though I did enjoy the animation and the constant fan service, for my sins. Should probably rate it lower but it finished and I immediately played Mario Kart for the first time in years for the next several hours, which all in all was a fun evening on my sofa.

There's a certain kind of beauty in absolute brutality. This film is, in my eyes, pretty much perfect in what it sets out to do. The narrative is clean and simple, with a fun video game structure that the plot works under, with a tone that's cold, intense and gritty. The fight scenes are just spectacular -- rhythmic and expressive whilst maintaining a tangible sense of pain. One of my favourites from last year, I'm very pleased that it holds up so, so well on a repeat viewing.

Simple but brutally effective. Doesn't try to over-complicate anything and keeps the narrative easy and the action hard, with a fantastic use of music and sounds.
