    This was fantastic. I was glued to the movie from the very first scene. Totally sad and very depressing but a great movie about a troubled childhood where no parents are showing any love and the kid is left to the uncertainty and mystery of life all on their own.
    Main kid was stunning. And the rotten siblings were like the evil step sisters in Cinderella. Not to mention the detestable Mother character who was like 10 evil stepmothers.

    Very uplifting movie and interesting that they had to move the production due to the occupation during WW2.
    I would highly recommend not reading the synopsis on the Criterion channel as it gives away most of the movie, cause as you watch it, I think it becomes more enjoyable not knowing what is going to occur.
