Battling with ‘Exotica’ and ‘Calendar’ for top honor of my favorite Atom Egoyan film. His body of work doesn’t seem to contain a single title not worthy of repeated viewings.
There are so many character secrets and relationship nuances that are so adeptly exposed here that initial assumptions are constantly challenged and character motivations are often open to interpretation.
This is another Egoyan cinematic onion, with layer upon layer of slow burning revelations that somehow manages to never hit the viewer over the head with the ever present supporting characters of human suffering and grief.
