It’s a tough one to rate since on one hand it’s a very fast paced satisfying enough conclusion to the Batman animated series which I’ve been watching over the last few months. On the other hand it’s a big step down in quality from mask of the phantasm and feels like a long two parter episode of the animated series.

I do feel though I liked it more than I disliked it and even though it’s a step down I’m still giving it a 3 just for how fun it is even if it does lack focus and a proper narrative.

Pretty solid film with decent cinematography and screenplay which can feel drawn out at times but ultimately elevated by Richard burton and Olivia de Havilland who gives such a mysterious ambiguity to her performance and probably makes the entire film.

Can’t believe this is Richard burtons big leading  man debut because he’s brilliant and from the start shows his complete talent for acting.

Even though I don’t think this film is up to the standard Altman has  established before i still think this is a smaller scale captivating drama. Keith Carradine and Shelly duvall are both incredibly great and have an astounding amount of charisma. The cinematography is constantly flawless too in many shots but where the main flaws lie is that this sorta concept has been done many times before and  done more effective mainly with Bonnie and Clyde. I just feel maybe this could have done with having a better intensity to scenes or a more competent script.

This movie is one of them films where it’s like a journey because from start to finish this movie is breathtaking to watch and one I couldn’t Take my eyes off.

The whole science fiction dystopian atmosphere tarkovsky pulls off here with his imagery is top notch the whole setting especially in the zone and even outside especially the train station area looked absolutely stunning. The constant long shots might be tedious for some but I rather enjoyed them I…
