The Peanut Butter Falcon 2019
Thats a hard thing to do, believe in something, you know.
A very wholesome story of love and chosen (or perhaps, found-) family. Not a perfect story, but certainly a good one!
It's also really funny that Jon Bernthal is technically in this.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish 2022
Live your life... live it well.
Nothing gets me more excited in an action animation when they start reducing frame rates to really add some weight to the movement. And awesome cinematography, long shots, less cuts. It all works together with the vibrant colour's to be another reason why animation is to be taken seriously.
And a solid and enjoyable story to facilitate it. It doesn't ask all that deep of questions of the audeince, but does still end on a more than one notes that are validating to the human contidtion.

Conclave 2024
Our faith is a living thing precisely because it walks hand in hand with doubt.
I too kinda want Stanely Tucci to be the Pope. Thought, as an Anabaptisit that doesn't mean much.
I loved how tight the story is, with only like 3 locations the story felt locked-in. I can mirror the sentiment of others that it doesn't really say much about a real crisis of Faith in God. But I did still appreciate it's exploration of the crisis…

Dune: Part Two 2024

More than anything else, I'm amazed at the portrayal of 'power' in this story. I believe it's why Timothée Chalamet is such a great casting for this character. He carries with him a softness, he feels young, and at times can really lean into a 'naiveté of youth'. And yet, he can pull out such a voice that is so visceral that you feel the weight that is on Paul's shoulders.
This story is memorizing in the scariest of ways.…
