  Punch-Drunk Love has been compared to Citizen Kane, and to this, I can only say there is one moment, when in front of nervously cheering underlings, Egan symbolically punches his fist into a map of the United States: and that’s comparable to Welles’s sycophant newsmen singing their special song about “good old Charlie Kane.”

  Powerful story that carries its message plain as day. Unfortunately, it sometimes feels like many different movies spliced into one. It’s not really the Fred Hampton story, nor is it totally Bill O’Neal’s. The end is poignant and gut-wrenching and needs to be seen, but the pacing does stumble here and there to reach that point. Still doesn’t take away from how good this movie is, and the fact that Lakieth Stanfield acts kinda like an early De Niro
