    I confess I wanted 2.5 stars but just feel like I can't because there are movies I have enjoyed less...

    ...but it feels like this was an opportunity to give a new take on the vampire mythos and it was incredibly straight over the plate. It does nothing to really evolve the story.     I find visually there is not much to hold onto in the movie--a pitfall of the setting is that we really are just looking at the ocean most of the time. And when setpieces come up they seem kind of incomprehensible? Lookin' at you giant clam and whatever was happening inside it.
