Maybe the saddest Carpenter movie???
I remember not liking this the first time I saw it. (I don’t think I had gotten on Carpenter’s wavelength yet.) And I remember being mad because Christine as a novel is, I truly think, maybe the best example of Stephen King’s style working perfectly. Feels fully him and fully working.
On second watch, I see why this movie is good. Both King and Carpenter understand the inherent madness laying wait in small communities, a hair-trigger away…
