Rebel Ridge 2024
Maybe Netflix deserves rights after all.
This movie absolutely rips. It’s a very well-written thriller, and the action-packed final act had my heart pounding. The success of this is in large part due to the electric lead performance of Aaron Pierre. He’s incredibly physical in this role, and yet, he brings a lot of emotional weight too. Because of this, he’s flown to the #1 spot on my “Next James Bond Power Rankings.” Christopher Nolan directing an Aaron Pierre and Margaret Qualley led Bond film… who says no? (I’m delusional.)

Parasite 2019
I must confess something about the first time I watched this. While initially I thought this was fantastic, I was at the same time hesitant to label it a “masterpiece.” As a relatively inexperienced film enthusiast, I don’t think I was prepared to unpack everything from this film. Regrettably, I gave this a 5 star, rather than a 4.5, if for no other reason than to seem smart. Luckily, over the course of 5 years, this has not stopped growing…
