I don't want to be hyperbolic but might be the single object that best shows why we've spent the last 45,000 years making music

I watched this movie over two sittings, splitting it almost precisely where it starts to whip ass, and that'll really improve your opinion on the film.

I agree that the characters are thin, but I love them anyways. Watching it with Andor in mind elevated it too.

This movie flips between new creative ideas and the laziest shit ever so fast it gives me whiplash. It really bothers me that it copies the original so exactly beat for beat, but on the other hand the new characters are wonderful. A stormtrooper with feelings, a sith conflicted by the light side, BB-8. They all work, great stuff.

People complain about Rian Johnson ruining this movie or whatever, but the set-up and the mystery boxes are the least interesting…

The 3 other people in my screening were laughing and talking through the first half hour or so, and I got really nervous that they'd ruin the experience or I'd have to ask them to stop. But somewhere around the 45 minute mark, the room became totally silent and stayed that way until the credits rolled. The movie makes it impossible to not dial in and feel the tension and horror build and build.
