The director’s extreme removal and lack of ever having connection with Mexico and Latin culture is so amazingly clear. They likely can’t clock how bad the Spanish is or how awful their portrayal of multiple different groups of people are because they are Western Europeans and I’ll just say that would be on brand. Comfort zones don’t help much.
