Do the Right Thing 1989
Watched it a second time, actually understood it this time around. It lives up to its reputation - great movie with excellent writing. Very difficult to build an entire world and propose an extremely difficult, thought-provoking question at the end. One with grave implications. Great work

Everything Everywhere All at Once 2022
First thing that struck me about this movie was the relatability of the parent-child relationship in an immigrant family. So many of the conversations and emotions between the mother and daughter were carbon copies of conversations and arguments I’ve had with my mom. The next striking thing is the movie’s artful use of the multiverse along with the wild colorings and designs, while maintaining the deep underlying message. It’s extremely difficult to pull that off which is what truly tied the bow for me.

Greed and its consequences. Unique story premise that I haven’t seen before. And a couple memorable characters. Plot was straightforward and not overly complicated but got the message across clearly.
