    The production really mastered the vibes making Uncut Gems extremely watchable. Not sure if this qualifies as a vibe movie but the energy flows really well, and it's somehow enjoyable no matter what's going on.

    All the components and characters are also well sketched out with motivations, weaknesses, and the like feeling really real. I guess we should expect no less from Sandler, who's operating from a position of strength both as a basketball guy as well as a practiced…

    The aesthetic is top notch here. I totally want a floating house with a glass-bottom pool and some sweet-looking holoscreens.

    Speaking of those holoscreens, I've read there's a convention in user interface design that the user must always have a way to escape. That's why you always have a 'cancel' button beside the OK and every window has the X in the corner - because people don't like feeling trapped.

    A fine conclusion to the latest series. Kirk returns to form, riding his bike to victory over some unsavory characters. Idris Elba cuts a convincingly villainous figure, and as good villains do, he has his reasons for going rogue. It's fun watching the crew commandeer a vintage ship, and also fun seeing the retro chic design of the vintage ship itself. DNEG, the special effects studio for this film, is just showing off with the extraordinary visuals of the Enterprise
