Heart of Glass 1976
Herzog sincere art house, each frame totally involved with itself, elegiac performance style, the haunting of the 19th century is upon them.
Many striking moments, many beautiful. Difficult film, more at home in the fine arts.
My take is some transition from progress towards holy grail to progress towards capital accumulation, and it all gets confused and fucked and we sail out towards nothing into the sea. Art house. 7.2-7.7 range.

The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser 1974
A remarkable film, once again Herzog contending with how the state handles nature, just beautifully realized and dramatized, he just unpacks this late enlightenment/romantic moment. Moving and challenging and interesting film. 8.1-8.4 range.
