Poor Things 2023
The ideas feel a bit juvenile and flawed in its exploration of a lot of themes surrounding self-discovery. The emphasis is definitely more on the style of the film, which is fabulous and engaging. The first 15 minutes pretty much say what exactly to expect for the rest of the film, which isn't bad, but surprised to see how literal and sloggish it came off. Also a bit longer than it needs to be, especially the last 20-30 minutes.
Really fun movie, a great time, Willem Dafoe is arguably one of, if not THE greatest actor ever.

I understand the comparisons to PTA, but I think what truly sets this apart is the pure conviction in its presentation. There is a not a single frame in this 200 minute film that is without intention. There's a desperate hand on the camera that will not sacrifice it's control for even a second.
