Twenty-Four Eyes 1954
A very well received film that didn't resonante with me as much. Great anti-war sentiments and coming-of-age moments but ultimately overly sentimental with children choirs around every bend. Soothing and understandably cathartic for Japanese viewers at the time. Hideko Takamine was great as usual.

Setsuko Hara has the greatest smile I have ever seen. What a magnificently tender and honest film (with one of the saddest final moments in cinema)
