You can really see the building blocks of Anora with sprinkles of Red Rocket.
It’s got the fun donut shop drama of RR, the Safdie-esque city-traveling 1-day drama of Anora, and sad, skinny white ladies like Florida Project. It’s all there. All the classic Sean Baker tropes.
The final act was incredible.
I did like FP more because of its location but Tangerine is much more exciting.
The fact that it was shot on an iPhone 5 is quaint but ultimately more distracting than interesting. Digital less than 4K sucks! FP on film makes it way better, unsurprisingly.

Bong Joon-ho appears to be swapping back and forth between serious and more fun. This was a fun one. It does say a lot about society as the subtext and metaphor hits you over the head…
