  some of the most hilariously over-the-top anti communism I’ve ever seen combined with maybe the dumbest action writing ever- I need to check the production history here cuz it seems like they ran out of animation budget AND had to tie everything up with a voiceover?? feels like a canceled show.

  anyway the animation was beautiful for like, 4 episodes.

  absolutely furious at the politics of this documentary about a restaurant chain, cutting from the son of some CEO bitterly recounting how “SOME of our workers sided with the UNION but MOST were LOYAL” to ruth bader ginsberg talking about how it was a place without prejudice to COLIN POWELL i swear to god they’re lucky they had elliot gould in the mix or i would have turned this off 

  still want one of those cool dolphin coffee spigots tho

  holy shit now THIS is a film about dads!!!

  amazing to think that we’re the first people to see this in U.S. theaters for 50 years. amazing to think of all the work that went into this print, amazing that it still exists at all. wonderful feeling to be in a theater for that.

  also interesting to see a story about postwar Japan that focuses on people who made it- businesspeople enjoying some level of success, politicians, generals, war profiteers……
