It feels so close to being an all time banger, but sadly never reaches the potential that parts of the film promises. Because the parts that are excellent are EXCELLENT, the whole cast delivers but especially tilda swinton who is absolutely hilarious, Bongs direction is just as visually interesting as always, but his blocking overall seems a little more boring than usual. And I think it’s awesome that this film got made, a high concept film that at heart is…

The most humanly disturbing crime thriller I’ve ever seen. Less about murders and more about what always thinking about those murders does to a person. And it’s crazy that a film like that can also be incredibly funny just a minute after some of the most bone chilling scenes I’ve ever seen. Bong really is the king of balancing genres. Not to mention a perfect ensemble of top notch actors, and blocking I can gush about for hours, group staging hasn’t looked finer since. The type of I’m definitely gonna remember and keep on thinking about.

Probably my favorite Dahl/Anderson short so far. So weird and unique that you can't help but fall in love with it. Yea, it doesn't have the amazing effects of Henry Sugar, or the sad story of The Swan. But it has this strange feel that I adore. And there's a stop-motion rat which is always a plus.

I love Roald Dahl. Easily my favorite children's novelist, and it's great to see his more "mature" novels getting attention. But I don't really know if you can call this a "film", it's more a short film shot on a sound stage in 16mm with old special effects, stagehands, actors playing multiple roles, fourth wall breaks, set changes, and even a bit of stop motion. Loved it.
