An excellent snapshot of the Pacific Northwest shortly after the pinnacle of the rock/Grunge explosion right after it happened. Released in 1996, the scene is still fresh. The film features plenty of performances, such as The Gits, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, and more. Perhaps the only documentary that truly captures the spirit of Seattle in the early 90s. It also puts faces to many of the key figures mentioned in books such as Everybody Loves Our Town and Grunge is Dead, both oral histories of the Seattle music movement.

Under the Silver Lake 2018
Under the Silver Lake is beautifully bizarre- a flavor of film for viewers with a specific taste. Infused with horror, humor, and classic film, it's something unique. It's a trippy experience through a mystical version of LA that I wish existed.
David Robert Mitchell should learn that everyone can't be pleased, especially in regards to this film. It's fine as it is. It's message will be picked up on by the right people.

The Great Gatsby 2013
It's been awhile since I've seen this movie. I'm glad I was able to ring in the New Year with Baz Lurhmann's whimsical version of one of the greatest American novels of all time.
A spectacle from start to finish, The Great Gatsby delights in the excess of the Roaring Twenties, but reminds us of the drawbacks of the American Dream.
So many idolize the debauchery, the fancy clothes, the swanky cars, but there is a greater message.
