Was really impressed with the first half. Great sci fi dystopia storytelling, animated beautifully, and really seemed like it was going for something profound in its message
But the villain and the hero are less and less interesting the more the movie goes on. And it falls into every trope imaginable

While some scenes did really pull some tears, I can’t help but feel like Andrew’s attempts to document the far right accomplishes less and less each time
What am I really gaining as a viewer of this by being looped into a family’s private intervention for their father?
As much as the movie can work as a cautionary tale for families, doesn’t Kelly’s failure to change cement in audiences a feeling that Americas fascist descent is closer than ever? And if it is closer than ever, doesn’t treating flagrant fascists like fun subjects of indie docs seem fucking stupid?
Went into it completely blind, and was really pleasantly surprised by Timmy as Bob
Well shot, performances were great, may potentially pick up smoking cigarettes because of how cool Timmy makes it look
Production Designer and Wardrobe also killed it on this, Guthrie’s cabin looks and feels so lived in, the Newport Festival was seemingly built to scale by the Art Department and looked amazing. And I’d kill to wear even one outfit worn in this movie. Period pieces aren’t easy but the look of this film just rocks
