  God this movie was a blast. While what I’ve seen of the Evil Dead series is very campy in general, this one leans all the way into the campy humor, leaving behind much of the horror. I love Sam Raimi, no one really does it like him, his style of directing and tone is so unique to him, we really are blessed with an auteur who makes undeniably fun and funny movies with a solid emotional core.   i love vampire media that explores the nature of vampires as formerly human; as corrupted as they may be, they still have the capacity for good and are marred by human flaws. leans heavily into catholic symbolism, not only visually with the intensely goth aesthetic but thematically with Meier Link addressing the idea of original sin and bloodlust as temptation.
