The Substance 2024
Embraces the vanity and hyper-sexualisation of Hollywood in the most campy and disturbing way possible. So much to take in beyond just the grotesque visuals that are only amplified from a cinema viewing. Even the most mundane of daily experiences like eating and cooking are shot in such an uncomfortable fashion, where even a close up of Dennis Quaid speaking is enough to have your stomach churn.

BIFF 2024 Screening
Genuinely the greatest cinema experience I have ever had, a fully packed venue where every second line had the crowd erupting with laughter.
The fact that this beauty has already cemented itself well into the Top 250 (166 at this point), saves me from a long winded yap. But as strong as the script was, the line delivery from everyone, especially the actor playing Toros, was legendary (gave me flashbacks to my Turkish Grandpa’s mannerisms).
Overall my anticipation for this was immeasurable but ‘Anora’ delivered in every aspect imaginable.
