  Incredibly well written with great dialogue. I love how fucking crazy Crispin Glover is (he's insane in every movie, but this one in particular) I heard the director told him that he was in a comedy and that really made my day. What can I say, I'm a simple man, I love stories about death in small towns.

  i love the quiet, humble and awkwardness of it. there's no big birthday party, just a quiet get together with a clearly homemade cake and presents that you have to pretend you like. that's what makes this so authentic.

  malick's most gifted attribute as a filmmaker is world building. he creates rich environments for the characters to inhabit and visually striking worlds for the audience to return to on a rewatch. this movie just looks fucking incredible. the exploratory camera gives the audience the sense of innocence the voice over provides. the burning scene was so beautifully full of anguish, however i wish some character motivations and growth was shown a bit more to warrant that scene.
