The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie 2024
Delightful animation, good vibes, silly jokes, and a lot of fun to just watch an honest and unashamed 2D cartoon. Farmer Jim is a highlight and honestly the score is really great through the whole thing. Big recommend!!

The Boy and the Heron 2023
I love this movie so much. I was super excited to rewatch because after I saw it in theatres the first time I spent the next 2 weeks listening to the soundtrack and thinking about it. It’s surreal but deeply intentional, and I think it’s cool that it’s Miyazaki musing on grief, death, art, and what we are handed by generations past/what we hand down to the next. It’s full of heart and pain and hope and sadness and I think it’s really special. Also the score is amaaaazing, Joe outdid himself

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse 2023
The animation, the music, the creativity, and the energy on display here always reminds me of why I love these movies so much. It feels like it’s animation operating on the next level and it’s just so incredibly fun to watch (hence why I watched the first one like, 13 times or something lol). Rewatching this reminded me of how much I appreciate the time it spends developing the personal relationships & stakes that tie everything else together. Awesome movie and I hope Beyond comes out at some point and is good :)
