  I found so much of this so unbearable. Full of bland dialogue and empty characters. Felt like it was just ticking every box of coming of age cliches. Also the dialogue at the end with the dad saying he’d wished Mason’s mum had been easier on him and Mason agreeing that it might have prevented a trail of ‘drunken partners’ actually enraged me. Talk about victim blaming! Also, just because it was filmed over 12 years, doesn’t mean it had to be 12 years long. Stretched to its absolute limit. Some directors are too fond of their own “art”….
