  Fuck yeah, Dev Patel. Let this guy do whatever he wants.

  This thing has real momentum in the first hour, relentless and claustrophobic and pummeling.

  It loses a little bit of that momentum when it stops trusting that the audience. The lead’s backstory is explained thoroughly through flashbacks and news exposition, and taking time to show it explicitly kinda brings this thing to a crawl for a stretch. 

  Picks back up for another brutalizing sequence that is kicked off (literally)…
