My one and only complaint about this movie is that I didn't have this as a teenager. I'm certain I would have come out earlier and with more confidence.
Even watching it as a full-grown out adult, I found myself resonating with Simon's status in closet—proud of being gay, but not yet ready for anything to change—that I nearly came out to my friend watching it with me, as if it weren't already known.
I found it so cathartic on so many levels—it was a movie I feel I've been waiting my life to see.
