Funny people involved and moments of glory surrounded by unnecessary(?) pain and suffering
My nostalgia is so achingly potent that I’m drawn to anything depicting what feels like an honest portrayal of a period (and so beautifully remastered in 4k). I love this film doubly so thanks to the second layer of reflection on Hitchcock’s own life. Triply so as it contains its own occasional nostalgia for generations before… homage to the silent film era etc. It’s a bit slow at times and the ending doesn’t age well imo but I really enjoyed watching this and can’t argue with its contemporary position on the top 100 list
