Instant classic ‘New York Movie’ more in alignment with After Hours than Uncut Gems.
Mikey ‘Miles’ Madison is excellent, and Sean Baker balances serious, heart-wrenching moments with genuinely hilarious physical comedy. The guy who played Igor absolutely deserves an Oscar.
One of the better Mifune roles outside the Kurosawa extended universe. The fight scenes are great, the cinematography is excellent and it’s pretty rare to see him in a color film. Are Takezo and Matahachi samurai by the end? Not yet, but it’s a fun Bildungsroman.
Although I loved it, I took away half a star due to the amount of strange he turns down

I thought Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan were perfect fits for their roles - Michelle really cuts loose and shows her range in some really playful ways.
