The Fly 1986
There's a lot to be said about the terrific leads, about the surprisingly effective love story, about the excellent use of body horror to explore the themes of degenerative illness and bodily autonomy. But what I want to celebrate is how f☠️king efficient this movie is to knock all that out in a 90 minute runtime. It doesn't waste a moment, but it also doesn't feel like it's skipping anything.
I'd give this five stars, but the sex pest editor really needed to be smacked down a LOT harder; I don't like how much the story let him get away with.
