the smart subtle humor arising from manipulation of tone is worth mentioning. it's a bit cringe, kind of squirmy, which tracks, because Titane is essentially a physical experience. the "meaning" of a movie has to be inverted here; there's a parade of symbols that doesn't quite add up to anything coherent, but somehow, the images still fill the viewer up
