  The American dream and waking up from it. I think I’ve felt what the director was trying to say. the essence of it. The feeling of being an immigrant in america, with ideas of what might be and what could happen, and ultimately seeing how people with more power than you control your destiny until it is something you don’t recognize (physically) or control (hedonistically). I think it perfectly encapsulates how the dream can fade.
