The fourth film in the Yokai Monsters series. It was alright. The best thing about the movie were the monster and yokai designs which were absolutely TOP notch. Overall though the film felt very Spykids inspired. I think kids would like it more than I do, although there are many scenes that they'd probably be terrified at seeing so beware. Give it a watch if you love Yokai Monsters, otherwise I'd pass.

    As a side note, I haven't seen The…

Falling right in line after Submersion of Japan (1973) and Prophecies of Nostradamus (1974), Conflagration/Tokyo Gulf Burns/The Explosion/High Seas Highjack (lol) is a really fantastic and unique disaster movie from Toho.

Before watching this movie, I was super excited to see it. It’s probably one of, if not THE MOST, allusive Toho SFX films due to it being banned by Toho themselves. First of all, I love Toho SFX films and I have a huge interest in cryptids such as Bigfoot, so you can imagine how excited I was to watch this movie, however I was very disappointed. There are some spectacular shots and scenery, a very atmospheric setting, and the…

    Yokai Monsters: 100 Monsters

    ★★★★

Made by Daiei, the plot of this film is verrrryyy similar to Daimajin  with even the same director and some cast members, but it has a much more chilling atmosphere with a eerie soundtrack and some really cool special effects. The monster designs in this film are unlike anything I’ve ever seen and it’s crazy that this movie isn’t on most people’s radar. I’d still recommend watching Daimajin before this one just to see the objectively better film, but after that you should DEFINITELY track this one down.
