Much like solo, this is the kind of Star Wars content I love seeing, it explores something that is mentioned in a previous star wars movie, bringing backstory to events we only knew vague details about. The entire movie is engaging and interesting, and it becomes especially interesting once our heroes decide to rebel and attack Scarif. It is also a total twist having all of the main characters die in the end of the movie, not usually a play major movies do, but given that the "sequel" to this movie was already made, it makes sense.
This is the kind of Star Wars content we were hoping for when Disney bought Lucasfilm. It gives the backstory of a character that we all know and love, establishing his arc in the original trilogy, and showing things that are referenced in that movie, such as Han winning the millennium falcon. The story is well made and interesting, and there isn't any part of it that I don't want to watch. They even explain the error made in Episode 4 where Han uses a measurement of distance(parsec) as a unit of time.
This movie is actually significantly remember it being, I have watched it only twice now, first time being in the theaters, but I remember leaving the theater feeling very disappointed with the direction the movie went regardless of the joy of seeing a high production value movie. On a second watch the movie is by no means perfect, the first 20-30 minutes are spent invalidating half of Episode 8, but I really don't like Episode 8 so if anything that…
To begin with the positives, this movie has some excellent battles and settings. The duel between Kylo and Rey vs Snoke's guards is still one of my favorite scenes in any star wars movie, just because of how cool it looks.
