Striking visual compositions, synth madness and total moral ambiguity. No heroes to trust, nor laws to follow, just personal codes to live and die by. Dafoe looks and moves like he's coated in butter. Loved the escalating car chase through the LA River.
One of Gene's great gifts was the flipside of his crackling intensity: he could hold your full attention by just standing in a doorway, laying on his back, or looking out of a window. The threat of escalation sat behind every expression.
Acting is one thing - but doing nothing and still dominating a scene? That's something and someone to remember.
