The best movie ever made that I totally understand why somebody might consider it one of the worst.
Something darkly oppressive about baroque in black-and-white. Without the colour, perhaps all that's left is the violent power it's meant to simultaneously reflect and obscure.
The extras, abstracted from personhood by their unnerving stillness, part of the set more than part of the cast, even when they speak their repetitive dialogue.
