It's respectability politics. It's slightly romanticised small-town politics and malignant gossip. It's white woman tears, weaponised, and a whole "cycle of abuse" storyline.

This was quite fun to watch, and had a decently satisfying ending.

this is a remake of She's All That, which surely, surely is a retelling of My Fair Lady. but it's a social media influencer, and an unpopular guy, who somehow must be remade in her image for... reasons.

how did no one teach them to pronounce "guo", the thinly-veiled stand-in for China and/or all of East Asia? pls
