  What if the 2010s were the 1920s? Baz’s style is a perfect match for The Great Gatsby. The book is a 5/5 and this was a great adaptation.

  I never want to go to Vegas. Coincidentally watched the “worst movie ever” back to back with the “best movie ever” Showgirls is so good that it’s bad, has another movie ever done that?

  It seems like an allegory for meth addiction. He feels like a Superman at first, performing incredible feats of strength, having sex for extended periods of time, and coming up with complex ideas relating to his work quickly. Then he starts to look terrible with a disheveled apartment and hair, pock-marked skin and he desperately wants a partner to teleport and understand him. He’s irritable, jealous, and paranoid. The premise of the movie is so ridiculous that it maintains its humor despite being so grotesque. The body horror is gnarly. Jeff Goldblum gives a great performance.

  Makes me wonder what I’ve misinterpreted from my own childhood. Beautiful film accompanied by a lovely score from Harold Budd and Robin Guthrie.
