Beau Is Afraid 2023
A visually stunning 3-hour odyssey that feels like it was written by an 18-year-old film bro who is just so, so desperate to be seen as edgy. It’s like Ari Aster had the thought, “What if I made the most irritating movie ever?” and then just plunged straight forward into the abyss without a moment’s hesitation.
In a way, I almost respect it. Almost.
Giving it an extra half star because I got to watch it in the same theater as all three members of Boygenius. At least there was that.
