    A great horror, with unsettling social awkwardness ramping up into a tense finale (which I was slightly distracted during, sat on a plane next to Finlay who kept trying to watch my screen!). McAvoy fantastic and really sets the whole tone of the film.

    A bit like the joker character itself, there’s a really good film under the surface here screaming and trying to get out. I went in knowing it was a musical and knowing the panning it received, so felt a bit prepared, but it was a strange decision making this a musical! You could *almost* see what they were trying to do, and one courtroom number was well executed, but overall it didn’t work and felt really jarring to what could have been an interesting narrative.

    Interesting in places, particularly the relationship between the tabloid journalist exec producer Richard and the producers he managed, and ultimately how the producers would then source stories and manage the guests. But it all seemed a bit “wasn’t this mad?!” (here’s more fight clips!) with Jerry almost coming through as a saint, prostitute threesomes aside.
