"brooklyn" is that voice as narrative. and the wisdom in that narrative stems from its willingness to explore the dramatic depths of the average. for every declaration of love or loss of life, there's dozens more stray conversations, trips to the sea, and absent-minded workdays. all the mundane moments, cascading around us until we realize we are a part of the dance. and that... that is home.

Dressed in Blue 1983
Ah, documentaries about trans women. There's a kind of assumption about them at this point just because trends and tropes are so rampant in the genre. Trans women looking at themselves in the mirror, waffling between self love and self loathing. Trans women talking about "the surgery". Putting on clothes and makeup and talking about sex and being brutalized in the same breath.
I don't know how but even though Dressed in Blue does all those things it still manages…
