  the main character has such a nice friend

  The Recorder Exam is a beautiful film. It is a soft yet sharp and realistic portrayal of a child's alienation with her family which may hit too close to home for a lot of its viewers. Will make you feel both warmth and sadness at 4 in the morning.

  Quick edit: found out from another review that Shane Carruth is a domestic abuser (also looked into it more online). Won't change my opinion of this movie, but definitely will no longer check out his other work(s) until he clears his name (apparently he denies the claim but publicized the restraining order against him via Twitter). Now, I'm just really upset.

  I am not going to pretend that I understood everything that happened with this film at the first viewing.…
