Overall reactions: genuinely moving, extremely impressive, and very intense. It wasn’t exactly what I expected—it was a little slicker than I thought it’d be, and the plot felt a bit like video-gamifying WWI, which I didn’t love. But i think that’s prob an unintended effect of the POV and long shot of it all (the price you pay for innovation). Def recommend, if you can stomach it

The same nihilism that was charged and inventively told in the book was bored and completely disorienting in the movie, w flimsy characters and zero insight into them or their surroundings. Filed under “essentially unwatchable”
