A deliberately paced action thriller, that slowly unfolds its story and lets you meet the wide range of characters. There is, just beneath the surface, a streak of cruelty, that touches each of these characters. Lives touched by missed opportunities, the road not taken, and for most, the crushed aftermath of dreams denied,or completely unseen. The tone of the film is matched by the dark, yet sharp, cinematography. Occasionally allowing brief bursts of light to further highlight the often brutal knife fight or hand to hand combat. No happy ending here, this Korean film is content to leave us exhausted and heartbroken.
