I loved how simple and modest this film is that it almost didn't feel like a Pixar movie. Done away are the high concept of feelings and death, society of monsters, superheroes, talking toys, rats with fantastic palates, etc. We find a coming-of-age story about two boys discovering a small Italian town, eating gelato and pasta, and wanting to own a vespa—well okay, they boys are sea monsters.
