There is a lot to like about this, visually and in a space/sci fi way. For the budget there are some technical cgi moments which seem a bit under done sadly. Pattinson shows he’s a master of accents and also the supporting cast does their thing. The overall message and plot are a bit overused as a general source material; but it’s a fun silly ride that never seems to take itself too seriously. Only Wish they had done more on a technical and story scale with this kind of budget

The technical aspects of this alone are outright outstanding. All one take no bleeding or cutting together? They shot 10 takes of each episode sometimes shooting two a day? From all aspects of production that’s absolutely a feat. On top of all that making solid four episodes that tell an absolutely gut wrenching story, and the young boy was a first time actor? British tv shows strike again, they are on another level on this one.

I want to say that I LOVE Emma Thompson and Emma Stone...in most things and they are one of the only saving graces of this film. Otherwise, it’s terrible.
I guess it’s not their fault, it’s honestly the terrible script, the crazy amount of plot holes and the lack of just general good filmmaking.

Ah, what a waste. But alas, I haven’t liked any of the live action Disney films created off (or in this case spin-off) of the original animated ones. They just lack a lot of heart...and good scripts/directing.

Maybe the sequel will be better?

I think deep down there is a great 2 hr film in this 3hr overindulgent affair.
