It was a packed out screening but you could hear a pin drop when the credits rolled, a deafening silence. Anora is the best film of 2024 (that I've seen so far.) Headlined by a gripping lead performance by Mikey Madison, she gives you charisma, sass and charm but also vulnerability, insecurity and sorrow and she ought to be a very strong contender for best actress during awards season.

The comedy is so well written, I loved the mix of…

I don't know if I've ever felt more understood by a film! That just hit me right in the soul. I'm emotionally crushed right now and I don't even fully understand why? Sofia Coppola, you just rocked my world.

Side note: pink-haired Scar Jo might be the peak of beauty, absolutely stunning.

Michael Mann’s technical excellence is ever-present in this biopic about il Commendatore: Enzo Ferrari. The racing scenes are phenomenal, with the vibrant colours bursting through the screen and wonderful camerawork as you follow the cars through the heavenly Italian countryside. This is topped up by a terrific performance by Penelope Cruz as Enzo’s wife: Laura.

However, rather than focusing on how Enzo built Ferrari into a colossus of motorsport and one of the most iconic brands in the world we…

They're both scumbags but they are two scumbags that shared a friendship consisting of many elements that are all too relatable for the audience. Solid direction by Elaine May, great acting by Falk and Cassavettes who have phenomenal chemistry, but this film just doesn't really excite me in the way it seems to for many others.

    "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?"

I was entertained, well mostly, did it need to be that fucking long? I'm not so sure. I am a sucker for a vengeance story arc and this was a compelling and emotional one, I was expecting this to be a war film but it's really just about a man who had his family brutally murdered and will stop at nothing to get his revenge.

Don't get me wrong the ending was cool and very satisfying…

Wow, it actually lives up to the hype and then some! Where does one even begin? Obviously the fundamentals are all there: stunning cinematography, great acting, witty dialogue but what I was most impressed with is how creative Joon-ho is. There are so many different ways to explore classism but this was truly unique.

The first half is a good time, I would say it teetered on being a comedy for the first hour, although there was a slight uneasiness…
