Tarkovsky’s swan song is a technical masterpiece but fails to sell his central ideas in a cohesive way.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer is easily my favorite from Yorgos Lanthimos. It takes the messed-up nature of Dogtooth mixed with the weirdness of The Lobster. The acting, with Lanthimos' style was great. The story was engaging from beginning to end and one of the easiest Lanthimos films to follow. It’s simple yet feels otherworldly. It’s the retelling of the story of 'The Sacrifice of Iphigenia' but it’s such a unique spin on a centuries old myth that it feels fresh.…
